Getting Back in the Saddle

It's been a while since anything was posted here. It's not that I don't think about it. I do. It's not that I don't have lots of things to say. I do. It's not that I don't have time. I do. No, the thoughts are there, the themes are there and even the time is there. I think that what hasn't been there for a while is the incentive.

Yep, I lost my incentive. Where could it be, I wonder? I've looked for it for a while. I looked in all the usual places. You know them. Under the couch cushions and behind the mirror. On top of the dresser between the jewelry boxes. In all the pockets of all my sweaters and jackets hanging in my closet. But, nope, no incentive. I have almost forgotten what it looked like.

Today I decided to get serious about the search. I vacuumed the whole house, even moving the furniture. I swept and mopped the kitchen floor. I dusted each cranny and nook. Yuck, lots of spider webs, but still no incentive. It's Spring now, even though the weather is not quite agreeing, so the cleaning was necessary anyway, but my highest priority in doing all this work was to dig up the incentive that it would take to get me back into the blog groove.

I got side-tracked a couple of times, too. For instance, while cleaning out the litter box, the cats reminded me that it was time to eat. And then there was the 12 Step meeting I took time off for. And the telephone calls I answered and made. All these distractions, but I maintained my general focus - "incentive, incentive, in-CEN-tive!" And then, just when I was about to give up and go to bed [after all, SNL was over and I was feeling a bit sleepy] I remembered that I needed to check the lottery ticket my husband bought on Friday to see if we could start the corporation sooner rather than later. I dug the ticket out of my purse and Googled the California Lottery Home site, then added it to Favorites under Our Money. After I clicked on Winnings and went to the Mega Millions page and found that we didn't even get a $3.00 winning this week (we got $11.00 last week), I felt a bit disappointed and decided to cruise Favorites.

That's when I found my incentive. I looked under Salle Personal and saw Blogger Upstart Services and that led me here. My incentive was right there under my nose! All I needed to find was the blank Create a New Post screen to feel an urge to fill it. Ah, this feels good, to be back in the saddle, writing again. Thanks, Blogspot, for waiting to remind me that I need to write in order to keep the incentive up. It won't be so long before the next post, I promise.
